Strictly Social April Photos w/ Lina & Kissey Asplund

On April 30, 2008 Strictly Social was once again in effect. And what a night it was! Not only did we feature a showcase of Lina’s label Moodstar Recordings, presenting three new artists to our audience, but we were also treated to special performances from Lina herself and Sweden’s Kissey Asplund!

The night began with a soothing acoustic set by The Berriz. This was their first ever live performance and they entranced the crowd with their beautiful sounds. Up next was Ki Johnson who got the crowd on their feet with her rousing gospel vocals. This girl can SING! D’Cheri followed with her sexy, jazz flavored sound. Then not only did Lina sing a special Happy Birthday to Nu-Soul editor Norman Mayers, but she sang two tracks including the stepper’s anthem “Feel The Love.” Capping off the evening was the debut West Coast performance from Kissey Asplund. Believe the hype! Kissey’s electric performance and quirky vocals had everyone bouncing in approval.

Big thanks to everyone who made this event a reality: the friendly and professional staff and talent of Moodstar Recordings, Lina for being a gracious event host, Catherine Carter at Funky Dumpling, R2 Records for sending Kissey promos, Kissey Asplund herself for rocking the crowd, and the Strictly Social team for holding it down once again. We have some hot shit lined up for next month so stay tuned!
