One Response to “Future Sound of Breaks WMC – Friday March 28, 2008”

  1. It fucking blew ass chunks.
    Let’s see..
The 2 breaks rooms were split down the middle. The feedback/bleeding was far, far, far worse than at DC Star. There was one point where I was in the electro-bass room, naming what tracks were being dropped in the main breaks room. This wasn’t during breakdowns in the electro-bass tracks either. The bass from that room was constantly overpowering the bass and kick drums in the main breaks room as well.

The lighting in both rooms was atrocious, but especially the front room. They kept it on bright, white flood lights most of the time. I felt like I was in a prison rec yard.

I can work around some lighting issues, but then they also threw a bunch of MC’s with Asperger’s Syndrome on top of it. At one point, someone dropped an electro-house/fidget track with warbling bassline and the MC actually starting chanting “wah wah wah wah” to match it. The level of innovation in stupidity should receive an award.

Now, I arrived at about 10:30. The sound system lasted maybe 30 minutes before they were both shredded to nokia cell phone quality. The main breaks room lost a lot of its bass and was just quite obviously fucked. The electro-bass room was so fucking wrecked about the only thing audible was the snare on the 2/4 beat. They would fix it for a second, then have yet another minute of ear piercing feedback…and the sound guy obviously had no clue what he was doing.

It was dead, because everyone was texting friends warning them to save their money or find a different party.

I warned as many people as I could. The drum and bass room was about 9 million degrees and had the most plurtastic (ie irritating) lighting system. It was basically high intensity LED lights, set on non-stop strobe. We all know how much jungalists like bright, strobey lights.

I am not hard to please with a party at all. I don’t think in my 9 years of going out I’ve felt the need to bitch about a party more than 5 or 6 times.

This one was such a complete epic failure beyond belief, that I am keeping the flyer to remind me of what will forever be known as the worst event I ever attended.
